Berkeley Lab’s Biosciences Area Office has an opening for a Senior Administrator.  Under general direction, will provide a full range of moderately difficult to complex technical and administrative duties in support of the Molecular Biophysics and Integrated Bioimaging (MBIB) Division Director. Responsibilities include independently coordinating and implementing a wide range of activities including creating technical solutions to MBIB needs, project management, and event coordination.  Will also provide direct day-to-day administrative support to the MBIB Division Director including but not limited to calendaring, travel and drafting correspondence on his behalf. Will help interpret policy, formulate recommendations and implement guidelines.

 

Work/Projects are often complex, sensitive, confidential in nature, and time-critical.  Interactions are with all staff levels, including senior LBNL management staff; may include interactions with the Department of Energy (DOE) Headquarters and high-level officials in government and other external organizations. 


What is Required: 

  • 2 to 6 years related professional/exempt experience

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems of advanced complexity and recommend the appropriate course of action.

  • Demonstrated technical experience with programs and applications.

  • Demonstrated administrative experience supporting senior-level management.

  • Effective organizational and planning skills sufficient to independently establish priorities.

  • Ability to use sound judgment and initiative to carry out multiple assignments in a timely manner.

  • Extensive experience interacting diplomatically and professionally with internal and external customers.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary to use tact, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.

  • Effective written composition skills necessary to prepare correspondence and administrative reports that are concise, logical, and grammatically correct and experience in editing the work of others.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating and disseminating information flow to various appropriate audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate and identify problems and provide sound solutions or alternatives.

  • Ability to exercise independent authority for the successful completion of all duties.

  • Advanced level computer skills including familiarity with Google applications, Salesforce and websites.  Substantial experience with standard office software programs such as MS Office suite; proficient at using email.

  • Experience in coordinating complex calendars and travel arrangements.

  • Demonstrated capability handling multiple, moderately complex to difficult tasks with changing priorities.

  • Valid California driver’s license. 


Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.

  • Knowledge of LBNL and/or UC policies and procedures.

  • Full-time, M-F, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.

  • Salary is commensurate with experience.
