Berkeley Lab’s Human Resources Division has an opening for a Talent Outreach & Sourcing Specialist. This unique role will help develop and administer an outreach program to support the Lab’s human capital needs and help broaden resources and avenues to attract diverse talent pools. In addition, this position you will partner with full-cycle recruiters on sourcing and screening talent at all levels of the organization to support programmatic growth across the Lab.


What You Will Do:

  • Lead efforts to develop, enhance and maintain relationships with current and new professional and diversity-based organizations and partnerships.

  • Attend networking events, job fairs and conferences to build partnerships and to promote Berkeley Lab job opportunities.

  • Source talent using various strategies and techniques including cold-calls and technology.

  • Screen talent using various screening methods – supplemental questionnaires, phone screens, in-person interviews, etc.

  • Work closely with HR, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and division customers to identify viable opportunities for qualified diverse candidates.

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders (e.g., HR, Chief DEI Officer, Berkeley Lab Employee Resource Groups, diversity councils, and Ambassadors program) to implement and support talent outreach initiatives.

  • Track and report on diverse talent pipeline initiatives and source effectiveness.

  • Conduct analysis, assess results and identify areas of opportunity and change.

  • Assist in developing recruiting/employment related collateral and media to attract a diverse talent pool.


What is Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in HR and/or talent acquisition, with a minimum of 2 years in talent sourcing.

  • Prior experience with talent outreach.

  • Experience with screening, interviewing and assessing talent.

  • Experience with multiple modern sourcing techniques.

  • Basic project management skills, ability to independently manage projects from implementation through conclusion. Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present and communicate effectively.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  • Proficiency with ATS and electronic systems for sourcing; HR Management System; Financial Management System; Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel and PowerPoint


Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field.

  • Familiarity with Google applications and collaboration tools.

  • Experience with AAP placement goals.

  • This is a full time career appointment.

  • Full-time, M-F, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.

  • Salary is commensurate with experience.

  • Work will be primarily performed at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA.
