Network Engineer
POSITION: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Network Engineer in Berkeley, CA.
Duties: Consult and collaborate with ESnet users, ESnet Site Coordinators, and peer engineering and operations teams at Research and Education (R&E) networks and Regional Optical Networks (RONs). Design, implement, and support network infrastructure and peering architectures to support ESnet and science requirements. Configure, troubleshoot, and analyze network protocols (including IPv4 and v6, BGP, SR, ISIS) and advanced IP network services (including MPLS, RSVP, L2 and L3 VPNs). Develop, implement and use automation (commercial and in house developed) and tooling technologies to measure and improve network performance. Configure and deploy Juniper QFX and Nokia SR routers. Install Juniper QFX routers at remote locations by directing remote hands technicians. Procure 1/10/100 Gigabit per second Ethernet telecommunication circuits. Update Configuration Management Database (CMDB) with customer provisioning info. Troubleshoot telecommunication circuits experiencing hard-failures (e.g. Loss-of-signal or link-down) and soft-failures (e.g. incrementing FCS or other errors). Provide end-user consulting on network-related topics.
Benefits
This full salary range of this position is between $118.692 to $175.320 per year depending upon candidates’ full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 24 months of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
