Operations Systems Program Manager
The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Operations and Performance Support division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory plays a critical role in enabling world-class science through operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Reporting to the EHS Division Deputy for Operations, the Operations Systems Program Manager leads a Division-wide program covering business systems, data and performance management, strategic initiatives, and assigned program operations. This role directly supervises a team of experienced professionals across the Business Systems Team and ProgramData Management Team, setting multi-year objectives, establishing program roadmaps, and leading complex initiatives from planning through implementation and transition to sustained operations.

What you’ll do:
Set direction and deliver results
- Set priorities and develop a multi-year roadmap for EHS business systems and performance work, aligned with EHS priorities and Laboratory strategy.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives from planning through implementation, managing scope, resources, schedules, risks, and outcomes.
- Advise EHS Division Deputy for Operations on priorities, emerging issues, investments, and opportunities to improve operations.
Improve systems, data, and processes
- Lead the EHS business systems portfolio, partnering with IT and EHS teams to improve applications, data, and workflows.
- Guide system projects through requirements, testing, deployment, and transition to ongoing support.
- Strengthen metrics, dashboards, data quality, reporting, and analysis to help EHS leadership understand performance measures, manage risks, and make strategic decisions.
- Bridge the gap between EHS strategic goals, workflows, and technical operations
Lead people and manage resources
- Supervise, coach, and develop experienced professionals across the Business Systems and Program Data Management teams.
- Build an inclusive, accountable team and plan for staffing, workload, and future needs.
- Oversee assigned budgets, vendors, procurement activities, and program reporting.
You will have:
- A bachelor’s or advanced degree in business administration, information systems, applied mathematics, statistics, data analytics, operations management, program or project management or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience leading programs and setting priorities, plans, budgets, and measures of success.
- Experience supervising professionals and working across technical and business teams.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data, metrics, or reporting to inform decisions.
- Knowledge of business systems, process improvement, project delivery, and/or change management.
- The judgment and communication skills to advise leaders, build relationships, and work through competing priorities.
Desired skills/knowledge:
- Advanced degree in business administration, information systems, data analytics, operations management or a related field.
- 12 years of related experience.
- Experience in a scientific, research, higher education, government contractor or other highly regulated environment.
- Experience working with DOE, UC or Berkeley Lab policies, systems and management practices.
- Experience evaluating automation or AI applications for business processes, data analysis or customer service.
Additional information:

- Salary range: The expected salary for this position is $193,000.00 - $210,000.00, depending upon the candidate’s skills, knowledge, and abilities. This includes education, certifications, and years of experience.
