Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL) Nuclear Science Division has an opening for a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the team.

In this exciting role, you will be contributing to experimental medium-energy nuclear physics research with the electron beams at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF) and participate in R&D in spectator tagging measurements for the EIC.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Participate in one or more ongoing or near-future experimental campaigns at Jefferson Lab.
  • Participate in R&D for the EIC, including studies of tagging measurements.
  • Analysis of related instrument and experiment data.
  • Publication of results.

 

What is Required:

  • A recent Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or high-energy physics, or a closely related field,
  • Experience with modern data analysis, simulation, and computing,
  • Proficiency in written and oral dissemination of scientific results,
  • Ability to travel to experimental sites, collaboration meetings, workshops and conferences.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to advise and coach student assistants in research.

Notes:

  • This is a full-time 2, postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience. Salary for Postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree.
  • This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.
  • Salary will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates.

  • Work will be primarily performed at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA.
