Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL) Computer Languages and Systems Software (CLaSS group) has an immediate opening for a Quantum Synthesis Engineer to assist with the design and development of the Berkeley Synthesis Toolkit (BQSKit). BQSKit is a scalable and portable infrastructure for synthesis of quantum circuits.
What You Will Do:
- Development and tuning of quantum synthesis algorithms.
- Performance tuning of the BQSKit infrastructure.
- Deployment of parallelism in the BQSKit infrastructure.
- Software lifetime maintenance of BQSKit: integration, testing, bug fixes.
- Interact with users, gather requirements and provide support.
What is Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Python code development and tuning.
- Demonstrated experience developing quantum synthesis algorithms.
- Some experience in parallelizing Python code bases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a cross-disciplinary team.

Notes:
- This is a full time, 3 years, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
