Senior Research Associate
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Senior Research Associate in Berkeley, CA.
Duties: While working under general supervision at the Department of Energy (DOE) Joint Genome Institute (JGI) Division: Provide research and production support for complex scientific instrument operation, sample preparation, experimental design and execution, data collection, and data analysis and interpretation for genomics next generation sequencing (NGS) tasks, within a high-throughput environment. Support DOE mission areas in clean energy generation, climate, and environmental sciences. Perform research assignments that require molecular biology and biochemistry knowledge and skills and requires the use of problem-solving skills. Responsible for design and conduct experiments aimed at improving quality, troubleshooting failures, and reducing sequencing process costs. Contribute to and provide guidance on optimization, development, and implementation projects for the advancement and scale-up of a variety of sequencing technologies. Responsible for understanding the latest sequencing technology, support new technology development and integrate new protocols onto JGI sequencing platforms.
Benefits: This position has a targeted range of $5,850 - $8,036 per month for job code 381.2. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, certifications, plus also aligned with the internal peer group.
Requirements: Master Degree in Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Science, Molecular biology, Microbiology, Genetics or related life sciences field and 12 months of experience in the job offered or related technical occupation.
